Privacy Policy
Clenlo does its work on your device. We run no server for the app, have no user accounts, and never receive your photos, contacts, calendars, reminders, files or email. The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code.
1. Who we are
This policy covers the Clenlo app (the “App”) and the website clenlo.com, published by 1aer (“we”, “us”). It explains what the App reads on your device, what leaves your device and where it goes, and the choices you have.
2. What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect, store or receive personal data from the App. There is no sign-up, no account, and no server of ours that the App talks to. We do not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising or attribution services, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
3. What the App reads on your device
The App asks for each permission only when you open the feature that needs it. You can refuse, or withdraw a permission later in iOS Settings; the rest of the App keeps working.
| Permission | What the App does with it |
|---|---|
| Photos | Scans your library on the device to find similar, duplicate, blurry and large photos and videos, media that chat apps saved to your library, and photos that match a search such as “photos from last year”. It can make smaller copies (optimizing and compression) and group photos into smart albums. Analysis uses Apple’s on-device frameworks. Nothing is uploaded. |
| Contacts | Finds duplicate and incomplete contacts and merges or edits them only when you confirm. |
| Calendars | Finds old and duplicate events and deletes only the ones you choose. |
| Reminders | Finds completed, duplicate and long-overdue reminders and deletes only the ones you choose. |
| Files and folders | Looks only inside a folder you pick, to find large, duplicate or old files. The App remembers your choice with a system bookmark so you don’t have to pick it again. |
3.1 Data kept on your device
To stay fast, the App keeps a few things in its own storage on your device: cached scan results (for example, contact records it has examined), optimized photo copies waiting to be applied (capped at 2 GB), your settings, and the number of deletions used today on the free plan. If you add Clenlo’s widgets, the App also shares a summary of its last scan with them through storage on the device that only Clenlo and its widgets can read: how many items are suggested for review, their total size and when the scan ran. None of this leaves your device, and it is removed when you delete the App. Files are stored with iOS data protection.
3.2 Background optimizing
If you turn on optimizing while charging, iOS runs that work on the device while it charges. It never uses mobile data and replaces nothing you haven’t confirmed.
3.3 iCloud Photos
If your library uses iCloud Photos, some originals may be stored only in iCloud. When an action needs the full original, iOS downloads it from Apple’s iCloud on the App’s behalf. On mobile data the App asks you first. This transfer happens between your device and Apple; we are not part of it.
4. Email cleanup (optional)
If your version of the App offers email cleanup and you choose to connect a Gmail or Outlook account:
- You sign in on Google’s or Microsoft’s own page, in a system browser sheet. We never see your password.
- The sign-in tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain on this device only. They are not backed up to other devices and are never sent to us.
- The App talks directly to Google (Gmail API) or Microsoft (Microsoft Graph). It reads message metadata only (sender, subject, date, size and labels or folders) to group mail such as newsletters and promotions. It does not read message bodies or attachments.
- When you confirm, the App moves the messages you selected to the mailbox’s Trash or Deleted Items. It never deletes mail permanently, and starred or flagged messages are always left out.
- You can disconnect at any time in the App, which deletes the tokens from the device. You can also revoke access in your Google Account or Microsoft account security settings.
Google API Services. The App’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from your Gmail account is used only to show you and clean up your own mailbox, is not transferred to anyone, is not used for advertising, and is not read by people.
5. Purchases
Clenlo Pro subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your name, payment card or Apple Account details. The App asks Apple whether you have an active purchase so it can turn Pro on; that check happens through Apple’s StoreKit on your device.
6. This website
clenlo.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts; its fonts and images are served from the site itself. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as your IP address, browser and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and keeps it in short-lived logs. Cloudflare’s privacy policy applies to that processing.
7. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share personal data, because we do not have any. The only third parties involved are the ones you use directly through your device (Apple for the App Store and iCloud Photos, and Google or Microsoft if you connect email) and Cloudflare for this website. Their own privacy policies apply to that use.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
9. Your rights and choices
- Allow or refuse each permission, and change it later in Settings › Privacy & Security.
- Disconnect a mailbox in the App, or revoke access at Google or Microsoft.
- Delete the App to remove everything it stored on your device.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export or erase on our side. If you have a question or a request under data protection law, write to us and we will answer.
10. Changes to this policy
If the App’s handling of data changes, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change ships. If a change means the App would start collecting data, we will say so in the App before it happens.
